Game number 16 of the 2019-2020 season marks the first defeat for the Kewaunee High School girls’ basketball team. The Storm fell at Valders, 50-43, on Tuesday night. The Vikings are no slouches, possibly the best team Kewaunee has faced all year. They now possess a 15-2 record and remain undefeated at home. For a Storm team that has been a cut above conference competition, it was good preparation for the state tournament that begins later this month.
Kewaunee got off to a slow start scoring just 15 points in the first half. Valders got 19 points from Emma Wagner and 12 from Kendra Hickmann which gave the Vikings just enough offense to hang on in the second half. Kewaunee’s next game is Thursday against Gibraltar.
