The Sevastopol High School girls basketball team finished last in the Packerland Conference in 2018-19, and the opening contest of this season suggests it could be another long season on Highway 57. The Pioneers lost to Two Rivers, 41-18, Saturday afternoon.
Thirty-six games were played across the state on Saturday and Sevastopol's 18 ties for the lowest point total of any team on the court in all those contests. Going 5-18 last year and winless in conference, Sevastopol never scored fewer than 24 points. The Pioneers averaged 43 per game last season. The offense will have to improve rapidly for Sevastopol. Their next game is home against Oconto on Tuesday night. The Blue Devils are winless, falling to Wabeno/Laona and Coleman.
